   Interesting! I tried to download the second Ram Dass file but got the message “File cannot be downloaded. “PATH TOO DEEP”….Perhaps I am not ready to hear this part?

       I was afraid to ask when the series would end, in fear that it would, at some point. I have not been able to connect with anyone in this area really interested as I have become, I do post many of the recordings to my facebook page,hoping those I love and care about will receive a gift through listening. But, if there is ever a need for some Clerical or Coordinating duties associated with the Series
       I will sell everything and move out to The Bay Area in a heartbeat. There seems no need for my presence where I have spent my life, so keep me in mind and Thank You so much for presenting this material free of charge. Blessings Janis

   I have loved everything I have heard in these conversations. So much gratitude. I usually hear them after they have occurred live. This is the first time I heard the “open phone lines” good bye. It brought me to tears…deep releasing cry…the beauty and love in the voice of our human family spread across the planet, brought together in a moment in time through our longing to express our highest potential…it gave me such a powerful feeling for the tsunami of love sweeping our planet at this very moment..and this moment…and this moment! Thank you, with all my heart. Only love.

    Is there not an unquestioned assumption that what seems to be being lost is what needs to be restored?
    Surely it is on the ‘back’ of those living more consciously and increasingly manifesting positive qualities in their living that is the source, the energy, the driver of the huge currents of purification we are experiencing in our individual lives and in the larger picture. Whether it is how, for example, I am when the lines at the check-out are long or what propelled the Enron and banking accountability currents it is all the one energy which is being transferred from ‘dark to light’. Who knows what is to be?
    Trust like never before is what I currently work with.

      I really like your comment Phillip, it’s something I’ve come to myself, here on my montain in Tasmania in contemplation, radical faith, or recontructed faith, which I believe is not the old blind faith, nor is it aware faith, but something beyond both of these…
      And I lke the way you pull the spiritual path right down into the supermarket check out line. I agree with you, it is in the everyday, the chop wood, carry water, sacred tasks of living that we need to attend to as well. I’ve not yet mastered the check out line..sometimes I can….cherry

    Thank you so much for this lively enlightened discussion/debate exploration into the part our spirituality plays in the evolution of the consciousness of the whole and of the way we respond to, interact and contribute to our world. I have been a seeker and on a path of personal conscious evolution for most of my life through the tenants of Christianity, the 12 Step program and in the past 10 years, a daily practice of yoga and meditation under the guidance of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev (one of your guest speakers). As I have grown in my self awareness and my healing of old wounds, my desire to make a contribution to the world around me has also grown. When I was in pain, my first priority was to heal myself and I didn’t have the energy or power to heal the world around me. So with regard to your question about spiritual practice being self-centered, yes I think it must be self centered until ones awareness of his Self goes beyond his self (the ego) and only then can he truly contribute. In other words, every individual consciousness contributes to the consciousness of the whole so raising the individual consciousness should be the first priority. But then once the individual evolves to a point beyond his ego he cannot help but work to manifest the kingdom of God on earth as it is in Heaven.

    Thank you Terry for this inspiring series. I would love to hear Mooji interviewed also. His depth of presence is very inspiring and his ease of expression, no-nonsense attitude and the way he just exudes love have endeared him to a lot of people (and the numbers are growing). Even though he’s mostly stressing the need to recognize our own nature as the ground of being in a traditional advaita way (his teacher was Papaji) there’s also something new and refreshing about his way of doing that. And it’s not just because he’s a Jamaican who grew up in Brixton, London, or that he makes very good use of youtube for example. I bet he could illuminate some unexpected corners in this conversation.

    In his latest book, ‘Messages from Water and the Universe, Masaru Emoto speaks of the the two words which, when spoken, produce the most beautiful and radiant water crystals. These are ‘love’ and ‘gratitude’ – with ‘gratitude’ in double proportion to ‘love’.
    I have grown to truly love these talks. May I please send my gratitude in double measure!

    Second Tier

    I used to try to pretend that I did not have a very good grasp of what it really meant to be living at second tier. As things become more clear to me I am beginning to see that part of this apparent self created confusion was caused because I did not really want to live there. I believe that these are some of the characteristics of a 21st century Bodhisattva living at a second tier way of being:

    She would rather give than receive.

    He would rather serve than be served.

    She would rather love than be loved.

    He would rather be humble than be exalted.

    With this understanding a part of me questions why a person would even want to be like that and a part of me can somehow sense the potential beauty of this way of being.

    I recall when the woman I love was recently in critical condition and struggling to survive. I was able to briefly set aside much of my selfish, separate self ego desires, demands and even needs; and focus only on giving to, serving, and loving her. Strangely enough during this period of time I was not suffering; I was not living in dukkha. My ego tries to convince me that happiness lies in looking out for number one but it does not seem to work out that way. I recall hearing a Buddhist master summing up Buddhism in one short phrase: “No me; no problem”.

    Our Integral Spiritual Experience on love is almost here. It would be interesting to learn if even one person there invests even a few moments going out into the World of hurt to selflessly give, serve, and love. I will not be able to be there. If anyone attends and notices anything even remotely resembling this would you please let us know?

    I cross posted this from my primary community http://www.integrallife.com Terry Patten’s words were a strong inspiration on my way of thinking regarding this topic. It will be interesting to see if he is able to grow from fine words to beautiful actions if he attends this event.

    Hello Terry & Craig,

    In your conversation you spoke of the idea of `evolution becoming conscious of iteself Since I had a direct experience of seeing how my psychological perceptive processing worked I have made it my life work to make my unconscious conscious.
    I suddenly `saw` that I was living in a `thoughtform` which acted like a box which kept me bound and limited. I sawhow I was living in a polarised world of thought, thinking it was truth,
    I also `saw` that I was not who I thought I was, my ego was a construct I had made up. As you can imagine this was a huge shock because apart from the usual biological question of `Who Am I`, I now had to face a much larger question, perhaps a universal question of ¬Who Am I, and what Am I supposed to be doing here.
    I am sure I experienced a non local event, as I went beyond ordinary thought and seeing, and saw we were living in what what seemed like an infinite sea of possibilities, with no begging and no end, and that we weren`t ` FIXED` as we seemed to think we were.
    This experience came about because it seemed like a gap had appeared in my consciousness and I had also reached a critical `mass`, I can`t explain more, but that is what it seemed like.
    Since then I have had numerous deep inner experiences and stayed with them no matter how painful they might be, and by doing so I received information about myself and genetic line which I was unconscious of.
    I sincerely believe that if each one of us saw through our own self deception, a deception which seems to protect us but actually keeps us enslaved, which I call the lie of myself, the world would be a far better place. It`s maybe a door not many people would not want to walk through.
    I saw through consenual reality and so was able to gradually begin extricating myself from the historical and global consciousness which had formed this reality, which we take as truth. I think it`s called the `Collective consciousness`.

    You speak of evolution becoming conscious of itself, and I think this is waht I experienced when I had this experience.
    II have also realised the witness state and also the `Awareness that is aware of itself.and is not localised.

    Terry and crew — this was a simply wonderful series of dialogues, with powerful and worthy insights from each one taking part.
    I have but one suggestion — how about a shorter presentation– perhaps 20-30 minutes, and then open to dialogue with those posting questions and comments on computer or phone?
    It seems to me that when the questions start coming in, the focus changes somewhat, and the conversation grows richer.
    And I might add by the way, that the questions from the call in folks have been also very excellent, probing, and point in directions that otherwise might not be explored.
    But above all I want to again, and with all the other posters, say how valuable and insighntful this series has been from start to finish.
    It is a good time to be a learner in this world!

    Thank you for extending to 2011, I for one need this input! The conversations have affirmed my awareness of the resonance that is involved at a molecular level, that all processes have been evolving over time, processes that have a component of polarisation within, in order to see the paradoxes that result from living the experiences. All is gift all is given when we speak life to the universe, a new song – one song. Thanks Terry and all those at Integral that have made this available to ordinary people such as myself.

    Hello Terry. I have been listening to the talks with interest. However, it seems that the aspect of there being four yugas (or ages. Namely – Sat Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga) through which our world inexorably passes has not been highlighted in the talks so far. For, the kind of movement towards spirituality that we are witnessing now is already predicted in the Vedas. According to common belief, the Earth is now moving through Kali Yuga (or the machine age). But, according to Swami Yukteshwar, the enlightened Master of Paramhansa Yogananda, there was an error in calculation of the commencement of yugas after the Pandavas departed for the Himalayas and we are in fact nearly 400 years into the ascending Dwapar Yuga, hence, the increasing incidence of spiritual hunger. Hence, to say that what we are witnessing today is unique to our times seems a bit misleading. Your take on this?
